I’ve decided NOT to buy any new clothes this year. This is a BIG decision, as I just love clothes! My plan is just to buy second hand or make my own, when the urge becomes overwhelming. I will also alter existing clothes and make them fabulous!
In the UK, textile waste has risen from 7% to 30% in just five years. Clothes can be recycled!
Rather excitingly, I am once again designing dresses. This time cocktail costumes for the Mosaic Chamber Choir. I’ve chosen colours of jewels – purple, blues, emeralds, turquoise, burgundy…. all very beautiful… Pictures to follow.
Hello Blog friends
The last week has been a whirl of activity… the first ever PTFS Christmas party (all six of us)… fab time at the wonderful Archdukes on the South bank… amid lots of champagne…
… and the wedding! We had the final dress fitting on Monday, just as Monty knocked over the Christmas tree.. so with Jonathan hoovering up more broken baubles, I finished the dress… and Cath looked stunning!
Tons to do this year, and all so exciting! I’ll be working on Phillip’s painting tomorrow… all Phthalo greens and Prusian blue.. then a bit more on the C&G course stuff.. oh, and back to school on Tuesday!
Hope you have all made exciting resolutions… lots of love
Cate
PS There’s more photos of Cath’s wedding on my Facebook (plus a few of Jonathan dancing the Cumberland Reel)
Hello Blog Peeps
The heat is on. This week I bought some really gorgeous quilting squares in reds, oranges and gold (getting a bit fed up with lime). I’ve decided to make a couple of padded table runners for the Christmas season… really easy and great fun.
I should really have been putting together all my work in a presentable fashion for my C&G assessor… but hey…
Phillip’s nameless painting is coming to life… it’s quite lucious with sweeping strokes of paint, and defined texture. I’ve been using painted bondaweb… it helps create a marvellous background.
The bride is coming for the first fitting on Saturday, and I haven’t taken the fabric out of the bag yet…. (I have ironed the pattern though..)
