Year 11 GCSE exam happening this week… all very exciting…
St John’s Church Textile Art Project is coming together. We had a wonderful workshop last Saturday, check out the photos! We’ve almost completed the Red piece, and are halfway through the Purple and Green… the White one starts in April… can’t wait.
The first workshop was extremely successful – well done ladies! We spent much of the time creating “fabrics” – combining multiple textures withing each colour frame. The f
abrics were then appliqued onto the panels.

The banner will be placed in the main entrance of St John’s Church, West Byfleet, Surrey, UK this Sunday… It has been made using 100% recycled fabric from second hand shops, charity shops and leftovers. I used a variety of greens and yellows to create the words, and a mixture of orange, red and purple for the background.

Hello blog world people,
The banner I started for St John’s Church, West Byfleet (UK), has gone through a metamorphosis… well, I changed my mind really. The background pieces I created earlier weren’t really working, so I decided to start again.
I have created a patchwork quilt type background, with the image of the cross repeated.. in the top middle is the light shining; I’ve embellished with thread, beads and buttons.. On top of this background, the words “Welcome to St John’s” will be appliqued in bright lemons and limes…

The centre cross, with a close up of the light…
The pic on the left shows the whole banner.
