I have been experimenting and developing ideas using bonded fabric and simple printing with paints and dyes. Over the last year, I have collected a variety of different fabrics, plastic, ribbons etc… and I have hand and machine dyed my own fabrics… some experiments, of course, come out as disasters, but there is always something to learn…

I’ve been commissioned to create a “Welcome” banner for St John’s Church in West Byfleet, Surrey. I plan to use mainly recycled fabrics with embroidery. The brief is to create something colourful and eyecatching! So.. I’ve started by preparing the background… old linen tablecloth dyed saffron yellow. I have also started on the samplers which I will cut up and use for the letters.
I have used bright acrylic paint onto “Bondaweb” to create a textured background, which I will then place onto the yellow linen… more later..
