In this post, I explore different techniques; batik, bonded fabric, applique and reverse applique. The challenge for me is still to create beauty, but to go beyond my previous limits… again, some mistakes turn out quite well!

Today has been so exciting, as I have created something rather unusual… a vase made from recycled fabric… without a bottom…
You put a boring plastic or glass container inside, of course!

I am forever thankful that I am a teacher and that I have ridiculously long holidays! I have the luxury of time.. and suddenly all the s*** is worth it!
This summer I will be making bags, painting landscapes and finishing the church banner… I’ll also be completing my C&G Embroidered Textiles course… so, busy bee me. I’ll be posting lots of pictures.. so watch this space.
I love bags! All sorts. Big roomy ones, small dainty ones; elegant silk, baggy velvet. Bags made from scraps of left over material that I just can’t throw away…. so, I decided to make a few bags this week from an old sheet, a torn bit of curtain and a pair of pyjamas…. Hope you like them!
The best handmade bag website by far is Lisa Lam’s www.U-Handbag.com It’s brilliant!
Our conservatory is at last finished, and so I’m thinking about table mats, runners and lush cushions…. hmmm
I really do love embroidery. I love the texture, the feel, the dynamic. It is seriously underated as a medium. My sojourn to the evening branch of Woking’s Embroiderer’s Guild, has inspired me to complete a couple of samplers. These are to be used as part of the guild’s joint piece on Recycling and Re-using. I decided to incorporate bits of rusty metal and tea stained baby wipes… and odd bits of plastic.
Greetings from the land of Blog
I am really getting into my new Janome machine… last night I made a tea cosy. (Ok, so maybe great artists are above tea cosies, but hey, if you like old fashioned tea made in a pot then they’re essential). It’s made from an old dress… I wore it about 100 years ago with purple tights and Doc Marten Boots… happy days…. anyway, I have always loved the fabric, so have recycled it as a bag… and a tea cosy….
